Our Board of Directors

Kevin R. Younglood, MT, CPA – Immediate Past President
Kevin is a life-long Martin County resident and graduate of Florida Atlantic University. In addition to his work as a Certified Public Accountant within the community, Kevin also serves on the board for organizations such as the Rotary Club of Stuart, the Historical Society of Martin County, the Bach’s Children Music School, and the Elliot Museum.

 

Dr. Teena White DNP, ARNP - President
Teena White is an Associate Professor of Nursing at Indian River State College. As a Martin County local and graduate of Martin County High School Teena is a great asset to the coalition. She has served on the Martin County Healthy Start Board since 2005 and is currently the Board Secretary. Teena holds a Doctorate in Nursing and a Certificate in Public Health. In addition to working with Healthy Start she is also involved with the Martin County Health Facilities Authority.

 

Jason D. Berger - Vice President
Jason Berger of the Law Office of Jason D. Berger is a graduate of the University of Florida, Levin College of Law. He has proudly served the people of the State of Florida as an Assistant State Attorney for eleven years, served as a supervisor with the office of the State Attorney for a period of 8 years, was entrusted to lead the misdemeanor division in St. Lucie County for a period of 5 years and served as a felony supervisor for a period of 3 years. In addition to his legal work Jason believes in actively supporting our community. In 2008, Jason was one of three prosecutors in the State of Florida awarded with the M.A.D.D. outstanding DUI prosecutor of the year award.  He formerly served as a board member for Safe Space from 2003-2009. From 2009-2010 Jason also served as the Chairman of the 19th Judicial Circuit Bar Grievance Committee (B), and in 2010, Mr. Berger was nominated by the Chief Judge for the United States Southern District of Florida to serve on the local Federal Judicial Reappointment Committee.  

 

Marianne Paulsen - Treasurer 
Marianne Paulsen, MBA, is the retired Director of Investor Relations with CenterPoint Energy, Inc. Ms. Paulsen is fluent in Spanish, and is also working through the Martin County Library System to assist Spanish speaking families in adapting to American culture.

Jane Hallick- Secretary
Jane Hallick owns and operates Jane’s Dance Boutique in Stuart, Florida. The Martin County Healthy Start Coalition is a personal passion for Jane and she is happy to be a part of an organization that is working to ensure the health of all babies born throughout Martin County. Jane holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Management as well as an Executive Juris Doctor degree. 

Nicky Smith
Nicky Smith has over 22 years experience in the field of child welfare. She has worked for United for Families for the past seven years and is currently serving as the Training and Accreditation Director. Her work with disadvantaged children and families in the community inspired her to undertake a Bachelor’s Degree and later a Masters Degree in Child Protection. Over the years Nicky has held a number of administrative and management positions in the child welfare field.

Patrick Murray
Patrick Murray has worked for the School District’s Extended Day program for more than 27 years. He has served on the Whole Child Connection start up committee, Martin County Obesity Task Force, participated in Dancing with the Martin Stars, Summer Slam Jam committee, and currently serves on the Martin County Education Foundation and the Martin County Healthy Start Boards.Implementing several programs and clubs into the Extended Day afterschool program where he and his team serve more than 3500 children yearly.  All second graders in the Extended Day program participate in the CATCH program (Coordinated Approach to Child Health program, which focuses on living an active lifestyle and eating healthy.

 
Sasha Siassipour
Dr. Siassipour is currently a OB/GYN at Physicians To Women. She also provides physician's oversight for the Prenatal Care Program at Florida Community Health Center. Dr. Siassipour grew up in Miami and attended medical school at the University of Miami. She completed her residency with Florida State Residency and currently mentors medical students through FSU's program.

Sue Ellen Bravo
Susan Bravo MSN, ARNP, is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with Martin Pediatric Care. Ms. Bravo has over 25 years of nursing experience in pediatric and other settings. Ms. Bravo is also a Lt. Col, Retired, with the United States Air Force Reserves.

Advisory Members

Kim Major - Advisory Board
Kim Major has served the Stuart community for more than 20 years while serving as a Sergeant for the Stuart Police Department. In addition to her duties in the workplace Kim serves as a captain for Team Shannon for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and assists local Girl Scout troops within the community. She holds a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice Administration.  


Dale Martinez - Advisory Board
Dale Martinez has served in the banking industry for over 23 years and currently serves as Vice President and Branch Manager for Seacoast National Bank. In addition to serving as the Board President of the Martin County Healthy Start Coalition she is active in the community also serving on the board for SOS Children’s Village, House of Hope and Keep Martin Beautiful.
 
 

Elizabeth Hawn, BSN, RNC-NIC, NE-BC - Advisory
Elizabeth Hawn has served on the Martin County Healthy Start board for the past 4 years and is currently the Director of Maternal Child Services at Martin Health System. She has more than 30 years of experience in nursing, including more than 25 years in nursing management.  Her experience in neonatal services and nursing is of great value to the Martin County Healthy Start Coalition. She is also a member of the National Association of Neonatal Nurses, Association of Nurse Executives and is a certified nurse executive and also certified in neonatal intensive care.
